Dhaka: Bangladesh Police detained six people, including four Indian nationals, along with illegal firearms and ammunition in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday. The arrested Indian citizens are Swarnajit Debnath, (23), son of Shyamal Chandra Debnath of Vishalgad district, Nirmalendu Chowdhury (32),resident of South Tripura district, Shankar Sarker (31), resident of West Tripura, and Bimol Das, son of Aboni Das of the same district.
The arrested Bangladeshis are Amzad Hossain Shawon,(22)resident of Bangaj village in Akhaura upazila, and Hasibul Hasan Anik, (19) of Mandarpur village in Kasba. Senior assistant superintendent of police (Kasba circle) Abdul Karim said police conducted a drive at Alif Hotel in Kuti Bazar at noon and arrested the six.
During the drive, one revolver, two pipe-guns, four bullets, two walkie-talkie sets, four mobile phones and stolen motorcycle parts were recovered from their possession, he said. A case was filed over the incident.
