Washington: US President-elect Joe Biden has appointed Indian-American Mala Adiga, the policy director of his wife Jill Biden, who will be the first lady. Adiga has served as a senior advisor on the Biden-Kamala Harris campaign. The announcement on Friday come just days after Biden unveiled his first major round of top White House staff, including the appointment of his current campaign manager, Jen O''Malley Dillon, to serve as deputy chief of staff, and campaign co-chair Rep.
Cedric Richmond as director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. The Kartnataka-origin, Illinois-based Adiga previously was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs, responsible for overseeing a wide range of international educational programs, including the Fulbright and Gilman Programs. She served in the Secretary of State''s Office of Global Women''s Issues as chief of staff and senior advisor to the Ambassador-at-Large.
Before this Adiga served as Director for Human Rights in the National Security Staff''s (NSS) Multilateral and Human Rights Directorate.
