Cairo: A bomb exploded near the New Egyptian Museum, close to the Giza Pyramids in Egypt on Sunday, injuring at least 17 people, suspected to be tourists, since the blast occurred near a bus, carrying 25 South African citizens. There were no reports of any deaths, while ambulances were quick to reach the site of occurrence, Al Jazeera reported.
The cause of the explosion was still unknown, while nobody had claimed the responsibility for the attack. Egyptian security forces has started conducting searches in the area, looking for possible explosives. In December, three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian tour guide were killed, when a roadside bomb struck a tourist bus in Giza region. At least 11 people were injured in the attack.
