Thiruvananthapuram: An all party meet chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday discussed the Maradu flats issue and decided to explore legal options to delay the Supreme Court order to demolish the flats. Though the meeting concluded without arriving a concrete decision on the next course of action, it has been decided to appoint an advocate to present the case before the apex court to help the flat owners on humanitarian ground.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala urged the Government to blacklist the builders who were responsible for the violation of Coastal Regulation Zone. CPI State Secretary Kanan Rajendran said the violators should be dealt sternly and the loss incurred should be obtained from the builders. The Government, which tried to implement the SC verdict on Sabarimala, should implement the verdict on illegal construction, he added.
Meanwhile, in a statement here, former chief minister and CPM veteran VS Achuthanandan also demanded the blacklisting of builders violating the CRZ rules.
