Srinagar: Malayali soldier includes the CRPF men who were killed in the terrorist attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The man has been identified as V.V. Vasanthakumar from Kunnathidavaka of Lakkidi in Wayanad district.

Vasanthakumar joined the army in 2001 and belonged to Battalion 82 of CRPF. Vasanthakumar was given a transfer with promotion to Srinagar. He was on his way to assume the office there. He returned from Wayanad after vacation on February 1.

I am very much proud that my brother gave his life for Mother India, said Vasanthakumar's brother Sajeevan. The CRPF men were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday.

Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the bus in which the CRPF personnel were travelling. This is one of the worst terror strikes in the state in recent years, said the officials.
As many as 2500 CRPF personnel, many of the returning from leave to rejoin duty in the valley. They were travelling in the convoy of 78 vehicles when they were ambushed at Latoomode in Awantipura.

The buses and suicide vehicle were completely destroyed and was reduced into a mangled heap of iron. Body parts could be strewn around the area. Police identified the terrorist who was driving the suicide vehicles as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama district. He joined the JeM last year. The casualties are likely to go up, they added.
