Kochi: Crime branch on Saturday raided the office of Jain Housing in Chennai to arrest its managing director Sandeep Mehta. The crime branch had earlier directed Mehta to appear before it on Monday. Following this, the investigation team from Kerala reached Chennai on Thursday afternoon. However, it is learnt that Mehta left Chennai after learning about the raid. At present owners of the other builders in Maradu, including Sani Francis, owner of Holy Faith flats, are lodged in the Moovatupuzha sub-jail.
Paul Raj, owner of Alfa Ventures had stated that he would present himself before the Justice K Balakrishnan Nair committee to distribute the compensation to the flat owners. However, he did not appear before the committee. After he sought more time to appear before the panel, the court had prevented his arrest. Meanwhile, a meeting by the Maradu compensation committee decided to provide compensation to 58 out of 143 applicants.
