NIA in Govt Secretariat - Youth Congress protests, demands CM''s resignation
Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress workers on Tuesday staged a protest march to the state secretariat demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan after a NIA team reached the secretariat to collect evidence in connection with the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case. The protesters alleged that this was the first time in the history of Kerala that a central investigation team had reached the state secretariat to collect evidence in connection with a criminal case.
Demanding the resignation of the chief minister, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said the chief minister has no right to continue in power after the NIA team entered the secretariat to collect evidence against his department. BJP state President K Surendran also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Vijayan alleging that the Secretariat has become a safe zone for anti-nationals and NIA entry into the government secretariat will bring to light more evidence in the smuggling case.
