Sabarimala: After a brief interval, the world famous Lord Ayyappa temple became a centre of attention on Wednesday as two women, including a Tamil Nadu native, were forced to abort their attempt to enter the temple, which was opened on Tuesday evening for a five-day monthly pooja of Malayalam month, Idavom.
The two women, who came to enter the temple in the wake of September 28 Supreme Court verdict allowing the entry for women of all ages into the Lord Ayyappa temple, were forced to drop their plan to trek the hillock temple fearing protest from Ayyappa devotees, sources said. Ms Bindu, who entered the temple with the support of police on in January, was denied police protection this time fearing protest from the devotees. Later, Ms Bindu, who hails from Koilandy in Kozhikode district, left for Kottayam claiming that she would come back again before the closure of the temple on May 19.
Another woman hailing from Tamil Nadu was forced to abort her plan to trek the temple due to protest from the activists of Antharashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP) and Bajarangdal. UNI DS GK JW2200 NNNN
