Centre seeks report from West Bengal Govt on post election violence

New Delhi: The Centre on Monday sought report from the West Bengal Government following incidents of violence that occurred today in many parts of the State including Nandigram following the victory celebration of the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.

Tension prevailed in Nadigram a day after the Trinamool Congress got landslide victory on May 2, the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that its leader Suvendu Adhikari's convoy was attacked in Haldia and one of its offices in Nandigram was set on fire allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers.

The state BJP leaders also claimed that ruling party workers resorted to violence follwing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's defeat by her former aid and BJP candidate Shuvendu Adhikari. Mamata lost to her ex-aide by a margin of 1,956 votes.

BJP leaders and workers have also tweeted a video of party's Arambagh and Bishnupur office being allegedly burnt down by TMC cadres.
