Bengaluru, Sep 5 (UNI) Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai announced on Sunday that his government will ensure that nearly five thousand teachers are appointed in the state this year.
He was speaking after presenting the Best Teachers Awards at the Teacher’s Day programme organised at Banquet Hall in the Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.
Responding to the request made by Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh, the Chief Minister said that five thousand teachers would be recruited this year in the state.
The CM said that the 21st century is the century of knowledge. The county is swiftly moving forward from knowledge to science, from science to technology and from technology to software.
He said that it is inevitable that the teachers must adjust to the speed of the changes happening around them. He opined that one can become a good teacher only if one is a good student.
The Chief Minister said that teachers who encourage children to ask questions are genuine teachers.
The New Education Policy(NEP) is being implemented and teachers must come out with their opinions and doubts and discuss openly on the matter.
The NEP which is student centric must be successfully implemented, he added.
Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a rare leader and a rationalist. His ideal life is always an inspiration for us, he said.
Mr Nagesh said that the National Education Policy comprises of intelligence, compassion, skill and training which compliments the building of an independent country.
The minister congratulated the teachers who worked hard during the pandemic and who successfully conducted the SSLC exams, and remembered the teachers who lost their lives to COVID.
The CM inaugurated the ‘Namma Shaale, Nanna Koduge’ software which was formulated to transfer the contribution made towards development of schools.
Rizwan Arshad, MLA, presided over the function and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
