New Delhi, The Centre is developing a Covid vaccine tracker with synergised data giving a week by week update of doses. The tracker will be available on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and is expected to go live by next week, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday. "We are developing a COVID-19 vaccine tracker with synergised data giving week by week updates of doses. It will be up on the Health Ministry's website," Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, Prof (Dr) Balram Bhargava informed during a press briefing.
Through the vaccine tracker, the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines can be tracked among all age groups. It will show mortality due to Covid-19 trifurcated into non-vaccinated, vaccinated with one dose and fully vaccinated, officials said. During a presentation, Bhargava explained that the tracker would synergize data from three platforms — CoWIN (the website used for booking Covid-19 vaccine), ICMR’s national Covid testing database and Covid-19 India portal (on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s website). The tracker would provide data on vaccine effectiveness and coverage in the population with the first dose and the second dose. Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the pace of vaccination and coverage is rapidly increasing, stating that India inoculated more doses in the first week of September than the whole month of May.
"We've administered more vaccines in the first 7 days of Sept than in 30 days of May. the average per-day dose administered has increased from 20 lakhs in May to 78 lakhs in September. This number is expected to climb even higher," he added. "86 lakh doses administered in last 24 hours. We should increase the pace of vaccination before festivals. States & Centre should work to vaccinate vulnerable population," the union Secretary cautioned.
