New Delhi, The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Friday arrested a man, who was wanted in a shootout in Mayur Vihar area in the year 2020 and recovered one pistol and live cartridges from him. According to the police, Faisal (31), a resident of Trilokpuri, had been absconding for the last nine months and was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000.
On September 9, he was arrested from near the bus stand at Badarpur on Mathura Road in Delhi, and a case under arms act has been registered in the Special Cell Police Station. The police said they had specific information that Faisal would come near the Badarpur border. Based on a tip off, a trap was laid near the above place. In the evening he was spotted coming from Faridabad side and going towards Badarpur side and was nabbed, the police said.
The accused revealed that he had been absconding in a case of shootout since December 26 last year, in the area of Trilokpuri. A case under murder, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and arms act was registered in Mayur Vihar PS. In the firing incident, more than 25 rounds were fired from various firearms by 11 accused persons. Sixteen persons from the victim side got injured in this indiscriminate firing and deadly assault. Later on one of the injured succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained in the shootout. The attack was orchestrated by a gangster of the area. The accused, with 10 other members of the gang fully armed, allegedly attacked one Shahid, his family members and his friends at Central Park in Trilokpuri.
The deceased was a satta operator in Trilokpuri area and the accused wanted to extort money from him. The deceased had refused to pay the extortion money after that accused indulged in firing to terrorize him and other satta operators to accede to their demands and to show their domination in the area. Ten out of total 11 accused have since been arrested in the said case and only one Nawab remains to be arrested, Pramod Singh Kushwah, DCP, Special Cell Delhi, said.
