Chandigarh: Congress has promised a 33 per cent reservation for women in government and private jobs in its poll manifesto for the October 21 Haryana Assembly polls. In the Sankalp Patra released by party leader Ghulam Nabu Azad, Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Friday, the party also promised to give free journey to women passengers on Haryana roadways buses and a 50 per cent reservation in Panchayati Raj Institutions, municipality corporations and city councils.
It also promised to give an allowance of Rs 3500 per month for pregnant women till the birth of each child. The grand old party promised to waive farm loans, increase in old age pension and 300 units of free electricity to every household in the state. It has also promised one job per family, Rs 7,000 allowance to an unemployed graduate and Rs 10,000 for a post-graduate. The Congress promised to form Special Task Force to tackle drug abuse and opening of drug rehabilitation centres in each village of the state. The retirement age of a government employee will be increased from 58 to 60 years of age.
After the formation of Congress government, a special probe panel will be formed to inquire into aleged scams took place under the Khattar gonernment, according to the Sankalp Patra. In its bid to woo dalits, the party promised to give Rs 12,000 as annual scholarship to dalit students from class 1 to 10 and Rs 15,000 to those in classes 11 and 12.
