Srinagar, Two militants, including a “hybbird militant” and an associate were killed in a joint security operation at Hyderpora area of uptown in Srinagar tonight, police said.

Official sources said, three dead bodies were recovered from the encounter site who have been identified as of one Sameer Tantray a militant resident of Tral in Pulwama district, Amir a “hybrid militant” from Banihal in Qazigund district and an associate Altaf who is running a cement shop at Hyderpora.
The sources said, based on a tip off security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Hyderpora where militants were hiding in a house. As soon as the security forces were supposed to storm the said house, the militants hiding inside open fire. The security forces retaliated and during the exchange of fierce encounter a militant was initially killed.
Another militant was killed by security forces later this evening during the exchange of fire taking the toll to two.
Reports said, Altaf in whose house the militants were hiding in the top floor was an Over Ground Worker (OGW) and an associate.
The search operation is still going on in the area. Further details are to follow, the sources added.
