Odisha extends lock down till June 17
 
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today extended the lockdown in the entire state till June 17 next.Along with the lockdown the weekend shut down will also be enforced in the entire state in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.

State Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra said there shall be lockdown throughout the state from 5 AM of June 1 to 5 AM of June 17 next. There shall also be complete shut down on weekends starting from 6 PM of Fridays till 5 AM of Mondays.

The state government, he said however, has made some relaxations in the lockdown in Nuapada, Gajapati and Sundargarh districts where the positivity rate is below ten percent.He said in these three districts all types of shops excluding shops in malls, Market complexes, weekly haat, saloons, barber shops, spas, beauty parlors, shall remain open from 7 AM to 1 PM .

In the rest of the districts, only street corners, stand alone shops dealing with food and essential items, fish, meat ,eggs and milk are allowed to operate from 7 AM to 11 AM. The weekly and daily haats have been prohibited.

The state government had earlier announced lock down for 14 days from May 5 to May 19 which was extended further to June 1 and now it was again extended to June 17. Mr.Mohapatra said all industries both in urban and rural areas would be allowed to operate and so also the construction activities and associated movement of vehicles in urban and rural areas.

The government offices across the state will function during the lockdown with 10 percent of staff while the banks and other commercial offices have been instructed to work with reduced staff strength.
