Opposition unity: Naidu meets Akhilesh, Mayawati over opposition unity post LS polls
 
Lucknow: Telugu Desam Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu rushed to Lucknow on Saturday to meet Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over possible tie-up and emergence of Third front in the post-poll scenario. Mr Naidu, reached here in the late afternoon and met both the leaders. After meeting the alliance leaders Naidu left for New Delhi. Before heading for Lucknow in a special aircraft, Mr Naidu met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. In Lucknow, Naidu went to meeting Akhilesh Yadav at the Samajwadi Party office where they were closer for around 45 minutes. SP spokesperson Rajendra Choudhury was also present in the meeting.

After meeting Akhilesh, Naidu went to meet Mayawati at her residence. Mayawati, gave a warm welcome to Naidu by gifting him a packet of Mangoes. BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra along with other leaders were present to welcoming the Andhra Pradesh CM. There was no official word from SP or BSP either on the issue while Naidu refused to talk to media too during his visit. Naidu when asked about his visit just said that he will say on the issue at the appropriate time. Akhilesh too, kept silence on his meeting with Naidu with saying '' can I not observe maun vrat (silence).'' " It is pleasure to welcome Andhra Pradesh CM in Lucknow," Akhikesh however had tweeted earlier.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is making all-out efforts to unite all the Opposition parties ahead of the meeting of the grand alliance- after the results of the elections are declared on May 23. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has called for an opposition leaders meeting on May 23 to discuss on the post- poll scenario and unity to form the government at the Centre.
