PM Modi says Mamata Banerjee criticising poll body because TMC failed to cast bogus votes
Sonarpur/ Tarakeshwar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a vitriolic attack on West Bengal chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for her constantly criticising the ECI, saying her outbursts happened because they (TMC) could not get opportunity to cast bogus votes.

"People of Bengal have allowed you to rule 10 years to perform, but you didn't.. So why this anger now? Is it because you did not get an opportunity to cast false votes at will?," Mr Modi said at Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas while electioneering for BJP candidates for 3rd phase poll on April 6.

Earlier in the day at Tarakeswar in the Hooghly district, the PM said the game (Khela) was over for those who have been abusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) and slammed the TMC government headed by Mamata Banerjee for alleged betraying the people's trust in West Bengal.

"If players (contestants) keep criticizing the umpires ECI, you should know 'khela sesh' (game's over)" Mr Modi said and dubbed the ruling TMC as " Taka Maar Company." Mr Modi said adding that the people of Bengal have scripted the exit of TMC from Nabanna, the secretariat of Government of West Bengal.

"The TMC hates digital India initiatives, because it shuts off cut-money, pilferage and corruption," said Mr Modi.

"In Nandigram, (April 1 the 2nd phase poll for 30 seats) we have seen a glimpse of what is going to happen on May 2," the day the results will be for all 294 seats after eight phases of elections ending on April 29.

In the first two phases the fate of 60 seats in six districts -West Midnapore and East Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and parts of South 24 Parganas - has been decided.

Mr Modi said at Sonarpur that "some people in the TMC had decided to field Mamata Didi from another seat but some intelligent persons told her that it would be her second big mistake. Some people told her that if she would lose both seats, it will become very difficult for TMC to function as a party."

He said the chief minister has been advised by the wrong people around her.

"Mamata Didi is surrounded by people who tender wrong advices," Mr Modi said and slammed the chief minister for calling oppositions as " Tourists Gang and Bohiragoto or outsiders." You will not be called 'outsider' or 'tourist' when you go to Varanasi. You will find many people with 'tilak' and 'choti.' With every step you will hear 'Har har Mahadev' chant':" Mr Modi, who is incidentally an MP representing Varanasi, said Mr Modi

"Didi's party says she will contest polls from Varanasi in 2024; she's looking for a seat after losing Bengal elections," the PM took a dig on the TMC strategists.

Mr Modi alleged the TMC workers even looted the ration sent as relief for people in distress like Amphan happened in May 2020 and advised Ms Banerjee to rein in party goons.

Lashing out at the Khela Hobay Khela Hobay of the TMC supremo, Mr Modi said "Didi, democracy is not a 'khela' (game) it's a way to serve the people, you have forgotten all of this. You have betrayed the people of Bengal," and adding " we have seen a glimpse (Nandigram) of what is going to happen on May 2,"

Ms Banerjee time and again has been criticising the poll watchdog saying it works under the influence of BJP and said the saffron party was dividing the voters on communal line.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday too accused the BJP of engineering communal strife in the state to win the assembly elections.

"I request all the minority brothers and sisters not to allow their vote to be divided" Ms Banerjee told a rally today.

Mr Modi at Tarakeswar said the TMC took advantage of the people's misery and trouble and betrayed them instead minimising the problem in the past ten years since the party came to power.

Mr Modi said the defeat was inevitable for the TMC and its leader as"

I can see the surge of people in every meeting he is attending in different parts of Bengal as the voters have made up their minds to have a new double engine government after May 2,"

The second phase of assembly elections which held on Thursday had recorded a turn out of about 84 per cent for 30 constituencies in the districts of Bankura, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur.

Mr Modi said with every phase of election, panic of Didi (Mamata Banerjee) was increasing because the people in power have failed in developing Bengal.

" This is the reason why people of Bengal have taken the responsibility for the real change in the state as Bengal has always been ahead of others in terms guarding their culture and heritage," Mr Modi said.

" A major reason for Didi's panic besides the Nandigram vote, is her report card of 10 years." Mr Modi said and pointed out that old industries have been shut down and possibilities of new industries, new investment, new business and employment have been also shut with no future to the youth.

Mr Modi also said Ms Banerhee also hurt the common people who have been joining the BJP accusing them of taking money from the party.

After years of standing like wall in the way of development, the TMC also betrayed the people for even providing them safe drinking water as funds for water treatment plants in Hooghly have gone down the drain. PM said. Even the TMC government was obstructing new rail projects in Bengal.

"I assured you all the pending projects will be implemented as well

as PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in the first cabinet meeting after we are voted to power in Bengal," Mr Modi told ther rally.

Even the farmers of Bengal were deprived of all the benefits of the

Central government schemes as the state government did not allow them to avail benefits of central schemes.

"Centre wanted to give 'no guarantee' bank loans for street vendors.

All states reaped benefits but Didi did not allow this in Bengal:," Mr Modi alleged.

The 3rd phase poll is April 6 for 31 seats.
