Indian cricketers sought permission to wear camouflage caps : ICC

New Delhi: Day after Pakistan registered its strong protest against Indian cricketers for wearing military caps during the third ODI against Australia in Ranchi, the International Cricket Council on Monday said that they had already granted permission to India for the same. Indian team had donned camouflage caps, to offer their tribute to the Pulwama terror attack martyrs.

The BCCI sought permission from the ICC to wear the caps as part of a fundraising drive and in memory of fallen soldiers who have died, which was granted,? The Associated Press quoted ICC spokeswoman Claire Furlong as saying on Monday.

During the match, Indian skipper Virat Kohli informed that the team would be donating their match fee to the National Defence Fund. Skipper Virat Kohli came at the toss wearing the special cap. After winning the toss and opting to field, Kohli said, "This is a special cap, it''s a tribute to the Armed forces."

The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) also wrote on its official twitter," Team India will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs " Pakistan Information minister Fawad Chaudhry even called for the ICC to ban the Indian cricket team for mixing politics with sports.
