Kerala Blasters clinches 2-1 victory over ATK in ISL opener
 
Kochi, Oct 20 (UNI) Making the opening match of the Indian Super League (ISL) sixth edition remarkable in front of home fans, the Kerala Blasters FC beat ATK (2-0) at the Jewaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday. While skipper Bartholomew Ogbeche scored both the goals for Blasters, Carl McHugh found the back of the net for ATK. Even though ATK get the lead against Kerala Blasters early on, the men in yellow come back strongly after the initial blow to take the lead at the stroke of half time with Ogbeche scoring twice to give the home team a 2-1 lead at the break.

A penalty was signaled in favour of Blasters as Jairo goes down in the ATK box after a slight tuck in his jersey by Pranoy Halder. Ogbeche take the spot kick and find the equalizer. Blasters find their lead right before the half time. In the box Ogbeche connects the ball first time and fires it to the top corner to find the back of the net to give his team a big turnaround from trailing in the sixth minute to lead at just before the end of first half. In the second half, ATK men raided Blaster''s goalmouth on several occasions but failed to create any real opportunity and end up losing their opening match.

For ATK, Carl McHugh scores in the sixth minute with an astonishing volley from a free-kick. Kerala Blasters, which finished near the bottom of the ISL last season has gone in for a major revamp this time with a new bunch of foreigners and some bright youngsters. Earlier, the sixth edition of ISL got off to a colourful start at a packed stadium, majority the ''Yellow Army'', the fans of Kerala Blasters, with Nita Ambani, chairperson of ISL declared the season 6 open.
