Cairo: 321 ships are waiting to pass through the Suez Canal, confirmed the waterway authority on Saturday.
A 1,300-feet-long container ship 'Ever Given' has been stuck at the passageway since Tuesday. Efforts are on to move the ship and the it budged a little on Friday, reported Israeli media.
Head of the Waterway Authority, Osama Rabie told the media at a Press Conference on Saturday "At the moment, 321 ships are waiting for their turn to pass through the Suez Canal due to the situation," He said that relentless efforts to refloat the "megaship" are ongoing without a break and added that the situation is complicated by the size of the ship and the number of containers aboard.
Rabie assured that the operation is bearing results but added that it is premature to say when it would end.
