Kabul, Eleven people in Afghanistan have lost their lives and 23 others received injuries due to heavy snow and rainfall, media reports said on Thursday.
Bakhtar News Agency reported on Wednesday, 90 per cent of the country’s territory witnessed snow or rain that led to financial loss besides death toll.
Surface and air transport has been badly hit. Flights at the Kabul International Airport were also affected.
According to The Khaama News Agency, Helmand, Nimroz, Farah, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Jawzjan, Takhar, and Kabul are the worst hit and most casualties reported from these areas.
Taliban-appointed Ministry of Disaster Management confirmed the number of deaths and injured people and ministry’s officials also rescued many passengers stranded in flood.
