'Based on a fake story' - It was the tag line that first evoked an anxiety in every movie lover about the movie Kinavalli. Also it has been a while that a horror thriller has been released in our industry. Revolving around the lives of six youths, the movie is a mix of romance, fantasy, horror and drama. The movie casts new faces in the lead roles which is of course a very bold step by the director. Surabhi Santhosh, Ajmal Zayn, Krish, Sowmya Menon, Vijay Johny and Sujith Raj handled their roles in a very matured and natural way that we often forget they are freshers.
The movie begins with Vivek narrating his childhood memories and frienship to his wife Ann. Ajmal appears as Vivek and Surabhi as Ann. Following Vivek's and Ann's wedding there comes a small crack in their friendship and Vivek is very disappointed with the incident. So to make him happy and give a surprise Ann decides to invite Vivek's friends to their wedding anniversary celebration.
But as soon as they reach the bungalow, which is known as ghost house, they starts to experience some sort of paranormal activities. Though there is nothing much to laugh in the first half, the entry of Kanaaran Hareesh in the second half makes our tummy full.
In the beginning we may have a feel that the same old ghost story is served again. But Sugeeth, the director of the movie has wrapped a suspense carefully behind this very common horror which make the movie a feel good one. After his movies like Ordinary, Madhura Naranga, Shikkari Shambhu and so on Kinavalli is the sixth movie by Sugeeth. Each and every shot by Vivek Menon has captured all the scenic beauty of the location. Bank rolled by Manesh Thomas the script is done by Shyam Sheethal and Vishnu Ramachandran.
The songs by Mangal Suvarnan and Sreesai Surendran were a big hit even before the movie hit the theater screens.
