Pune International Film Festival to take place from Dec 2-9

Pune, The much-awaited Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), organized by the Pune Film Foundation and which also happens to be the official film festival of the Government of Maharashtra, will be held between December 2 and 9.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Dr Jabbar Patel, president of the Pune Film Foundation and director of the Festival, said that the 19th edition of the Festival was scheduled to be held in March 2021, however, it was postponed and held online with a select few films due to Covid pandemic in the state.

Now, with the state government having given permission to open cinema halls, the film fest will be organized in theatres, he said.

The film festival would be held at three venues -- PVR Icon at Pavillion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road, Inox at Camp and the NFAI auditorium on the Law College Road, he informed.

Over 150 curated national and international films will be showcased in the film festival, Dr Patel said and pointed that the standard operating procedure given by the state government with regards to the functioning of the cinema halls shall be followed strictly.

The online registration for the delegates who wish to be a part of PIFF will begin on Nov 18, while the spot registration will begin at all the three venues of the film festival from Nov 22, he added.
