Bangladesh beat India by 3 wickets to win maiden ICC U-19 World Cup title

Potchefstroom: Bangladesh beat defending Champions India by 3 wickets via D/L method in the final to win maiden ICC U-19 World Cup title at Senwes Park, here on Sunday.

Parvez Hossain Emon and skipper Akbar Ali rose to the occasion with a solid 7th and 8th wicket stand, helping Bangladesh overcome the 170-run target in 42 overs.

The target was revised to 170 runs after rain interrupted.

Replying to India's meager score of 177, Bangladesh were 163 for 7 after 41 overs when rain stopped play.

At that point, Bangladesh were 18 runs ahead in terms of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) par score which is 145.

Ravi Bishnoi was the most successful bowler for India with 4/30, while Sushant Mishra 2/19 and Yashasvi Jaiswal 1/10 were the other wicket takers.

Bishnoi also became the highest wicket taker in a single U19 World Cup campaign by picking 17 wickets.

Earlier, Bangladesh bowled out India for 177 in 47.2 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored for India with 88 runs off 121, while Tilak Varma (38 off 65) and Dhruv Jurel (22 off 38) also made useful contributions with the bat.
