Jammu: Sahil Sharma, who hails from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as wrestling coach for the XXII Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held at Birmingham, United Kingdom from July 28 onwards.As per information received here, Sahil Sharma has been appointed women’s team coach for the XXII Commonwealth Games.
A product of Bajrangi Akhara, Sahil for the second time has been appointed coach for a prestigious international event.Notably, Sahil had also trained and accompanied the gold medallist Vinesh Phogat in the Asian Games.President of Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association and former President Wrestling Federation of India, Dushyant Sharma has expressed his satisfaction on the selection of Sahil.
Pertinent to mention here that Sahil, who remained coach on contractual basis with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council was allegedly disengaged without any "justified reasons" by the sports body after a period of two years.
