Scotland bundle out Oman for 122
Al Amerat, Scotland put their strong foot forward for a place in the Super 12 of T20 World Cup as the European side bowled out host Oman for 122 in the final Group B match of the first-round here on Thursday.
Bowlers Josh Daley (3/25), Safyaan Sarif (2/25), and Micheal Leask (2/13) kept on picking wickets at regular intervals to break the backbone of Oman batting, which saw fighting efforts from Aqil Ilyas (37 runs off 35 balls), Zeeshan Maqsood (34 off 30) and Mohammed Nadeem (25 off 21).
Opting to bat first in a do-or-die clash, Oman lost in-form Jatinder Singh early because of a mix-up while attempting to steal a single. Daley then removed K Harisbhai (3 off 8) inside the powerplay as Oman could only reach 37 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first six overs.
Ilyas and Nadeem tried to rebuild the Oman innings with a 38-run stand but the former lost his wicket in the 10th over to Leask while failing to clear the long-off boundary.
Nadeem departed soon as well; getting caught at extra cover off Watt. Maqsood was the last batter to put up a fight for the hosts with three boundaries and a six in the closing overs. However, lack of support from the other end meant the last of six Oman wickets fell for just 29 runs. Daley did the damage at the deaths as he picked the wickets of Maqsood, Suraj Kumar (4 off 7) and Fayayz Butt (7 off 6).
