Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high level meeting to review the situation in Morbi at Raj Bhavan here today and emphasised on ensuring that the affected get all possible assistance.
He was briefed on the rescue and relief operations following the unfortunate mishap in Morbi. All aspects relating to the tragedy were discussed during the meeting, officials said. The high level meeting was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel, MoS Home Harsh Sanghavi, the Chief Secretary and DGP of Gujarat, along with other top officials from the Home Department of the State and Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority.
Nearly 100 year old suspension bridge over the Machchhu river in Morbi collapsed on Sunday killing as many as 134 people. Army sources in Delhi said that approximately 300 Army personnel have been employed in search and rescue operations at the incident site.
