Palakkad: A female wild elephant aged around 20 years was killed and its calf injured after a moving train hit them while they were crossing a railway track near Walayar on the Palakkad-Coimbatore railway stretch in Kerala on Friday. The accident occurred when the Kanyakumari-Guwahati Express train was passing. However, the train services were not disrupted as the carcass of the elephant was found away from the track.
