New Delhi: Delhi government on Saturday dedicated the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory school at Jharoda Kalan, Najafgarh to delhiits.
On this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Delhi Government’s Armed Forces Preparatory School starts today, besides special education, students will get four years coaching for NDA and similar competitions for free. Couple of years back we realised how Delhi has no Sainik School to prepare cadets for the army. Within just one year, we built this school and even surpassed our own expectations.”, Delhi government statement stated.
“This state-of-the-art facility offers services you wouldn’t get in the most posh schools too, 80-90 per cent students here have been absorbed from government schools itself. Education is completely free in the schools, all the children here get the same facilities to eliminate the rich and poor divide. Children will be taught all the qualities of an officer in this school, psychometric tests, group tasks, mock interviews and personality development exercises will be on offer.”
The school has an Exclusive Services Preparatory Wing to inculcate Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) in students through individual and group tasks, mock interviews, psychometric tests and personality development workshops. It offers extensive preparation (academic and service preparatory) for students aspiring to join National Defence Academy/ Naval Academy and other Uniformed Services, it added.
The students in the first batch of the Armed Forces Preparatory School demonstrated enthusiasm.
“Other states have Sainik Schools but Delhi never had any school of that kind which prepares the students for the entrance exams to join the Armed Forces, ' said Kejriwal.
