No one objected earlier when Fadnavis was projected as CM, says Amit Shah

New Delhi: Attacking the Shiv Sena, BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday said no one in the Shiv Sena objected when he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly asserted in public about Devendra Fadnavis being the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance.

Breaking his silence on the political developments in Maharashtra, Mr Shah said Sena 's demand for Chief Minister was new.

He maintained that these demands were not acceptable to the BJP.

Mr Shah told a news channel that Shiv Sena leaders came up with new demands after the results were declared.

'Many a times in public BJP said that if the alliance wins then Devendra Fadnavis will be the CM, no one objected back then. Now they have come up with new demands which are not acceptable to us,' he said.
He asserted that no party staked claimed to form government in the state.

On Tuesday, the state came under President’s Rule.

Shiv Sena president Uddhav? Thackeray met Maharashtra Congress leaders in Mumbai and said talks over government formation in the state were progressing in the "right direction" and a decision will be taken at an appropriate time.

Earlier in the day, Congress and NCP formed a committee to finalise the Common Minimum Programme with Shiv Sena to bring the three parties together for forming the government in the state.

The Congress committee includes Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan, Manikrao Thakre, Balasaheb Thorat and Vijay Wadettiwar while NCP is represented by Jayant Patil, Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde and Nawab Malik.
