UP govt recommend CBI probe into the death of Mahant Narendra Giri
 
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Akhara Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri who was found dead in Prayagraj on Monday.

In a tweet, the CM office said that the CBI probe has been recommended by the CM into to death of Mahant Narendra Giri.

Additional chief secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said here on Wednesday night that the CBI probe recommendation has been sent to the Union Home Ministry.

Earlier, several opposition political parties and saints have demanded a CBI probe into the death of the Mahant.

UP govt had set up a SIT to probe the matter. A purported suicide note was recovered from his room and two people-- The Mahant's disciple Acharya Anand Giri and one Adaya Mishra --have been arrested in connection with the case.
