New Delhi: Slamming the University Grant''s Commission (UGC) for its decision that exams for colleges and universities can be held in September, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that it is unfair to conduct exams during the COVID pandemic and demanded that Exams should be cancelled and students promoted on basis of past performance. In a post on Social media, Rahul said, ''''It is extremely unfair to conduct exams during the Covid19 pandemic.
UGC must hear the voice of the students and academics. Exams should be cancelled and students promoted on basis of past performance.'''' In a video message posted on his Twitter account, Rahul said, ''''Covid has harmed a lot of people. Our students in schools, colleges, universities have been struggling. IITs have promoted students after cancelling exams. UGC is creating confusion."
The Home Ministry on Monday said that the final-term exams in colleges and educational institutions pending since March because of the lockdown to check the spread of highly infectious coronavirus can be held. Later, the UGC released fresh guidelines that said the exams can be held in September.
