Firozabad, Refining Congress' election campaign ahead of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that the women of the state should unite and make an effort to change the politics of the state.
At the 'Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon' Skati Samvad programme Priyanka said, "I want women should understand what kind of politics is going on. Promises are made, but not kept, politics is being done of religion, votes are sought in the name of cost and after that nothing is done for you. You all have the power to change this."
"Therefore in the manifesto, which we have prepared, mobile and two-wheeler is only a medium, to empower women and to keep them safe. We have made a number of promises and we vow to fulfill them. We also have a guarantee card which will reach each and every home," she added.
The Congress leader said, "Women have to keep faith in us. It's the right of women that the government works to ensure their employment. Women have a lot of potential in sports, they can do well, if facilities are provided to them. We are going to issue a 'Vidhan' (legislation) in which we will describe our roadmap on who to recruit and how to give employment. Giving 40 per cent tickets to women in UP assembly elections is our big initiative."
Priyanka said, "Since we have raised the issues of girls all other parties have woken up to the fact that half of the population is women. All of a sudden Modi organised a rally of only women, while Akhilesh too made announcements. Why all this is happening, it is because now the people have started understanding that women are a great power, which cannot be overlooked."
