Zomato food delivery men threaten to call strike for forcing them to carry meat hurting religious sentiments

Kolkata: A section of delivery men of Zomato has threatened to shut dispatch of food, particularly beef and pork, from Monday if they were forced to delivery those two food by the management, as they believe it goes against their religious sentiment and values. A group of delivery executives of Zomato, a food app gets order on phone from customers, who could be seen assemble evening onward in front of fast food junctions and delivery food on the two-wheeler to the clients, in Howrah today protested and threatened to stop delivery of food from Monday onward if the management forced them to carry beef or pork to the customers.

The accused the food app of hurting their religious sentiments by ''forcing'' them to deliver beef and pork. They alleged that despite their refusal to deliver beef and pork, the company was forcing them to do so. " Both Hindu and Muslim food delivery boys have now refused to deliver the food that is beyond their religious guidelines and also go on strike to demonstrate their protest," it was said. West Bengal minister and local legislator from Howrah Rajib Banerjee reportedly opined that no one can force a man.woman to do things which his/her against the wishes.

"They should not force any sect to go against the rules of their religion. This is very wrong. We had no idea about such actions. Since we have been approached, we shall surely take action against such deeds," Mr Banerjee was quoted as saying. He said they would approach the management to give a thought over the matter and settle the issue amicably. Recently in Madhya Pradesh Zomato was faced by a customer, who cancelled order from the food delivery app as it assigned on religion ground.
