New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who was in New Delhi to attend the Nity Aayog meeting will raise the State''s objection over handing over the International Airport here to Adani Group. Earlier, the Chief Minister stated in the Assembly that the Government will oppose the Centre''s move to hand over the Airport to the Adani Group., Mr Vijayan had said he will urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the proposal over handing over of the Airport to the private group. The Chief Minister who met Mr Modi this morning held discussions on various development projects in the State and brought to the Centre''s attention about the State''s strong exception to privatise the Airport here.
Later, Mr Vijayan met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and held discussions on the development of National Highways in the State. It may be noted that Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) had emerged as the highest bidder for managing, operating, and developing the infrastructure of the Airport for the next 50 years. A private group cannot operate the Airport without the support of State Government which had provided the land for the Airport.
