Heavy rains continue, Orange alert in 9 districts, Yellow in 2 districts of Kerala
 
Thiruvananthapuram, As heavy rains continued to lash many parts of Kerala on Tuesday, an Orange alert has been issued in 9 districts and Yellow alert in 2 districts in the State.
Orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Yellow alert was issued in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts, a MeT press release said.
Heavy (7- 11 cm in 24 hours) to Vey Heavy (12-20 cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from October 12 to 15 and Heavy (7- 11 cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on October 16 and over Lakshadweep on October 12 and 13.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph is likely to prevail over southeast Bay of Bengal.
Strong wind speed reaching 45-55 Kmph is likely to prevail over southeast Arabian sea and Maldives area & southwest Bay of Bengal, Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala. Rain occurred at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep.
