Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Assembly was adjourned for the day as Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) disrupted the proceedings in protest against denial of an adjournment motion over the murder of an IUML worker in Malappuram district. Seeking the leave of the House to move the adjournment in this regard, MK Muneer of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) said the murder took place after a few days of the visit by CPI(M) leader P Jayarajan in the native place of the victim.
Seeking a SIT probe into the murder, the Opposition members raised placards and shouted slogans against the government. In his reply, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who agreed to probe the case by a SIT team, said three people were arrested in the murder case and police will take stern action against the perpetrators.
Following the Chief Minister''s reply, Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan denied permission to move the motion. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that Marxist leader P Jayarajan was the messenger of the murder, which took place after his visit to the victim''s place. Later, the Opposition members entered the Well and disrupted the proceedings, forcing the Speaker to adjourne the House for the day.
IUML worker Isahak (38) was hacked to death at Tanur on October 24 allegedly by the CPI(M) workers. Abdul Muiys (24), Mashood V P (24) and Thwahamon (22) have been arrested in connection with the crime. Police said political enmity was the reason for the crime.
