Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala bagged a National Award in the Aarogya Manthan 3.0 for providing the highest number of free treatments in the country, Health Minister Veena George said on Friday. Kerala bagged total three National Awards, which was announced by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya today, Veena George said in a press release. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted that "Kerala has won the award for the State with the Highest Hospitalisation Rate at #ArogyaManthan 3.0. Out of the 2 Cr free treatments given in India during the last 3 years, 27.5 lakh (13.66%) were in Kerala. Thank all health workers for making this happen." The Kottayam Medical College bagged the award for the highest number of free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The award was a recognition of Kerala's effort for the successful implementation of Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP). For the implementation of KASP projects, a State Health Agency (SHA) was formed under the State Health Department. The Alappuzha Vandanam TD Medical College also bagged the Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitra award for providing the AB PM-JAY-CASP Cards to beneficiaries. At present, these facilities are being provided in 192 Government Hospitals and 569 private hospitals in the State, she said. She said out of 2 crore free treatments conducted in the entire country, 27.5 lakh (13.66 %) were from Kerala during the last 3 years. The 27.5 lakh people were given free treatments under Karunya Benevolent Fund, she added.
