Thiruvananthapuram: Total 1,875 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Kerala on Sunday while 2,251 patients have recovered from the disease, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. "In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK (total 107 now) and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing.
So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus," the Minister said in a statement, here on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, 13 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid, taking the death toll in the state to 4,495. The Minister said 44,675 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 4.2 per cent. Till now, a total of 1,26,61,721 samples have been sent for testing.
Today, two places were identified as new hotspots while not any place was excluded from the list. Total 353 places are remarked as hotspots in the State.
