Kerala reports, 54 new Omicron cases
 
Thiruvananthapuram,Fifty-four more people tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 on Wednesday taking the total case load to 645 in Kerala so far, Health Minister Veena George said.
The Minister said 12 tested positive in Ernakulam, 10 in Kozhikode, 7 in Malappuram, 6 in Thrissur, 5 in Kottayam, 3 each in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad, 2 each in Kollam and Alappuzha, 1 each in Kannur and Wayanad. In addition, 2 people who came here from abroad also tested positive, she added.

"Out of 645 cases, 434 reached Kerala from low risk countries, 107 from high risk countries and 80 contracted the virus through local contacts. Twenty-four cases were from other neighbouring states."
In view of Omicron cases rising rapidly in Kerala, the Minister urged people to take utmost care and follow COVID protocol strictly to stop further spread of the pandemic.
