Chandigarh, Punjab MLA Razia Sultana, who had joined as a cabinet minister in Charanjit Singh Channi's government, resigned from her post on Tuesday in support of Navjot Singh Sidhu, who stepped down as the Punjab Congress president.
In her resignation letter, Sultana said she is resigning in support of Sidhu, and other Congress workers.
She added that she would continue to work for the party in the state.
Sidhu resigned as the Punjab Congress chief on Tuesday, days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of chief minister of Punjab on September 18.
Singh's resignation had come after months of power tussle between him and Sidhu, and even after stepping down, he warned the party against making Sidhu the chief minister.
Finally, Charanjit Singh Channi was picked to succeed Singh.
Sidhu's resignation came on a day when Singh is traveling to Delhi amid speculations of him meeting top BJP leaders, even as his media advisor said it was a "personal visit".
