Thiruvananthpauram, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued two fishermen who was injured in a mid-sea collision between a merchant vessel and fishing boat, off Vizhinjam coast, on Saturday.
The Coast Guard Station at Vizhinjam received information regarding mid-sea collision between Merchant Vessel Navious Venus and Fishing boat Sijumon-01, an official release said.
Two crew members of the fishing boat were thrown overboard due to impact of collision.
The two fishermen were rescued by Indian Coast Guard vessel Shaurya and transferred to C-427 ICG ship after initial medical assistance and first aid.
Indian Coast Guard Ship C-427, in the early hours this morning, evacuated two fishermen of Colachal.
The fishermen were taken to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College by a Medical team from Indian Coast Guard Station, Vizhinjam.
Fishing boat Shijumon-01 entered Colachal fishing harbour with the remaining 15 crew safely escorted by other local fishing boats, the release added.
