New Delhi, The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday congratulated India for achieving the landmark of administering 75 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
WHO's South-East Asia regional director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh congratulated India for achieving the the milestone.
“While it took 85 days to administer the first 100 million (10 crore) doses, India reached 750 million (75 crore) doses from 650 million (65 crore) in just 13 days,” she was quoted as saying in a tweet by WHO South-East Asia.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also took to Twitter and lauded the entire country for the achievement. He further wrote that with the help of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas’ mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “world’s largest vaccination drive is constantly creating new dimensions.
The health minister’s message added that the feat of inoculating 75 crore jabs was achieved at the time the country celebrates ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on the occasion of the 75th year of India’s independence.
The country has achieved a record vaccination of administering more than 1 crore doses thrice in over the past two weeks.
India had crossed the magic figure of a 1 crore vaccination in a single day on September 6. The rare feat of over 1 crore jabs was earlier achieved on August 31 and August 27 as well.
