Thiruvananthapuram: Writer George Onakkoor expressed his dissent on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju during the BJP''s ''Maha Sampark Abhiyaan'' here on Sunday. The writer expressed his opinion on CAA to the Union Minister when he visited his house as part of ''Maha Sampark Abhiyaan'', the BJP''s door-to-door campaign to counter the anti-CAA protest and to bust the myths around the Act.
Mr George Onakkoor''s house was the first one where the Minister visited as part of launching the campaign in Kerala. George Onakkoor said the secular nature of the country was compromised when people from a particular community got excluded in the Act. However, the Union Minister clarified that the law is not against Muslim religion. There were incidents of giving Citizenship to migrant Muslims during his previous tenure as a union minister of state for home affairs, he added.
Later, taking to newspersons here, the Union Minister said the resolution passed by Kerala Legislative Assembly against the CAA was anti-constitutional.
